The Omen

Geezo.... Is it just me, or should there be a list of films that the Hollywood muppets shouldnt be allowed to remake ??? I mean its Sunday night and The Omen is on the TV, but little did i know it was a remake. And i mean, whats the point in it. The scenes are practically the same and there is NO way on earth that the original could be bettered so leave well alone.. Its not even nearly scary... These hollywood prats have run out of ideas.. Then there was the Wicker Man (remake was complete dross), the Haunting (a classic horror remade with Cath Zeta Jones !!!!!)......... No more i say...... if it aint broke and all that...

Foreign remakes for the hard of thinking...

I recently watched a spanish horror film called Rec. It's the only film/tv experience I've had that truly scared me since I was a kid watching Dr Who from behind the sofa. Hollywood, in their infinite wisdom, have re-made it as Quarantine. Quarantine isn't scary, but I imagine fat lazy americans are more than happy trading atmosphere and tension for time to browse the huge selection of food spread across their ample laps. Sadly there are quite a few cracking foreign films that have been shoddily re-made, often scene for scene. Nikita re-made as The Assassin is the other one that gets up my nose. Don't get me wrong, there are a few exceptions. I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

You can hardly say batman was unsucessfully redone? Batman begins is a great film. The only side argumeny you can have is that this was a "re-imagining" rather than a remake.

Another one that should have been left alone.

The original was great. A little film about a group of cops trying to do their duty and survive against a gang and the odds. The remake was just another cheap pop at controversy. Dirty cops trying to get to them this time. That's the lazy way to make a film, take an old story and make the bad guys dirty cops. So easy, quick, so tired. Try something original for a change.
