Rangers and Celtic transfer to the Premiership

I heard Martin Bain say that Rangers cannot reach their potential in the SPL and that the riches of the Premiership is where our fortunes lie. I disagree with this notion and fear that if we take the £40 million TV money and spend it on over-priced foreigners and still not win anything or have any position in the Champions League. And to compound the problem, to have an hope of reaching the top 4, we may need to incur the debt at Manchester Utd of £667 and Liverpool with £86 million. No thanks. Rangers should prosper as being in the top 2 in Scotland, take the TV money and deal in the transfer market at an affordable level. We should concentrate on technique, training and fitness and use Murray Park for its intended purpose. We can only beat what is in front of us.

The next time some English club want to boost their gates for a benefit match, and so call on one of the Old Fim, we should tell them where to go...

Im glad Celtic arent going down there as I could see our debt levels rocketing as we attempt to reach the top 4 in the premiership..

So Celtic and Rangers have been denied entry to the Premiership and all the so-called riches that are available down there. Well I for one am glad that Rangers are not going England as I think the riches available down there is a bubble which will burst sooner or later. Sky cant possibly keep paying the money they are down there indefinitely and when the bubble bursts the clubs down there will be in serious trouble and many will go to the wall. The wages that are available down there are paid in respect of a 3 or 5 year contract so when things go badly, these clubs will still be contracted to pay their players the obscene wages they are getting. That will kill these clubs and that will be the death of the premiership. When this happens Rangers supporters will be glad that we didnt chase the quick buck. Have we not learned the lessons of taking the quick buck from Setanta? Look what happened there.... As a previous post mentioned, the 40 million available down there would disappear in a flash and, whilst Rangers may play well on the field, we will no doubt increase our debt levels chasing the European football that the fans will crave. No trophies, no European ties and Bolton et al for company... No thanks.

Celtic would go down there an d dominate within a few years. No Euro ties? Rubbish, we would be in the Europa league in no time. Only the top 6 would be decent opposition as Wigan and the likes would have no chance against Celtic. And the players, man, imagine the team we could have and who in their right minds would say no to Celtic.??? No-one I would reckon. Taking the place by storm would be the order of the day, and we would be welcomed down there, being the most well behaved fans in the world. Its the scum who could scupper the move for us because of their hooligan element.

Totally agree with this comment and would also point out that even 40 million in tv money better off, Celtic would have to spend the full amount to make a dent in the premiership. this would make the trip south not worthwhile and i for one dont fancy propping up the middle of the table for a few years. i enjoy my trips to paradise to watch the cream of the continent and would i swap this for a team full of overpaid 'stars' against the english with no hope of european opposition for some time..... No ta.
