Scotland - Glasgow Freegive Group

There is a wonderful organisation called Glasgow Freegive Group ( http://www.freegive.co.uk/p/glasgow.htm ). Glasgow freegive group connects people who are giving and getting unwanted items for free in their own towns. It's all about resue and keeping good stuff out of landfills, and at the same time, helping someone in your community by gifting them the items you no longer need. It's completely free to join.

Go to Glasgow Freegive Group Website at http://www.freegive.co.uk/p/glasgow.htm

Freegive group is active in all Scotland towns. Find a group near you at http://www.freegive.co.uk/sco.htm

This is a great ideal! Encouraging people to reuse and recycle things by giving them away and not sending to the garbage bin.

World Cup fever

Dunno about you, but i have the World Cup fever already. Im salivating at the thought of being bombarded by the beautiful game for the next few weeks. I cant decide who Im going to support as there are so many great teams with fantastic players on show. I reckon I will go for Germany as i like their attitude, their style and that you cannot count them out, whatever happens.

Though I must say I would expect Argentina and Brazil to do well, but I reckon Maradona is the weak link in the Argentinian team. After watching the Champions League final, I can see the Brazilians doing well as Lucio, Maikon and Cesar are fantastic in their positions.

Im looking forward to Saturday when the USA take on England, but i do worry that this game is a terrorist's dream come true. I just hope the security outside the stadiums is as good as those protecting the players. Im not sure.

Its a pity us Scots arent there, but until we are, cmon the Germans.

Celtic - STUC Palestine Protest

As a season ticket holder at Parkhead, I am absolutely fuming at  the antics of the STUC in trying to stage a demonstration for the Palestinians with a Palestine flag-waving protest at the game against Hapoel Tel Aviv tonight. What on Earth are they thinking about trying to engage political protest at a football match and thinking the best fans in the world will participate. Frankly i feel obliged to write a letter of complaint in order to vent the anger i feel.

Members of the STUC must be fuming about their hard-earned money being put to such a use in the creation of 10,000 flags for distribution. A crowded football match is not the venue for demonstration and what would happen if this created tension and trouble broke out? Would the STUC take responsibility for the trouble ? I doubt it.

If the STUC want to demonstrate, though I cant comprehend why as surely they must have their hands full with redundancies because of the recession, then they should use their flags outside the nearest Israeli embassy. Leave Paradise in peace.

I just hope the Celtic fans dont get hoodwinked into taking part.

Thierry Henry : cheat or footballer

So Thierry Henry smashes his nicer than nice image with some blatant cheating to take France to the World Cup in South Africa at the expense of Ireland.

It was a shocking example of cheating by a professional and although he admitted to his error and Im sure every player in the land would do the same thing, it still leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

Football is supposed to be a contact sport and so some play that would be deemed a foul and intentional is really cheating, but Im not sure. Football without incident and clinical non-contact skill would dull. A crunching tackle, committed pressure and the audacity of a player to do anything to get his team an advantage is football. The secret joy of getting the better of a rival through a bit of "letting the ref make the decision" is what makes football the game it is.

We shouldn't be getting on our high horses and expressing the horror that Thierry Henry handled the ball and then, frankly unbelievably, plays on to the winning goal. What do you expect him to do? Stop the game and admit to the error of his ways ? Get a grip. The French would not have stood for such a gallant act, nor would the Irish if the shoe was on the other foot. We should admit to ourselves that players will, and should, do whatever it takes to win the game and get on with getting the winning mentality into our game, the killer touch..... whatever its called.

Celtic's Shame

Shame on my fellow Celtic fans. Those who thought it necessary to voice their bigoted views whilst the respectful fan, no matter his political allegiance, paid his respects to the dead of wars. I am amazed that our fans, whilst mocking the shame that scourges the enemy, they bring the same shame upon the club they claim to love. It is my opinion that the Police should have arrested these idiots and charged them with a criminal offence, whether for bigotry or public order. There must have been Police in attendance outside the ground, so why didnt they do something about it? It beggars belief. Shame on you and I hope you never return to paradise.

Cooperative Insurance Cup

Congratulations to Hearts for their win in Paradise. Celtic were terrible and although they had a lot of chances and couldnt put them away they just dont have the steel that I expect from the Bhoys. And the chuckle brothers, they should be ashamed of themselves. Caldwell is useless and his long range passing has deserted him, and McManus..! shocking performance and a horrific tackle for the sending off. Terrible tackle and so cynical. Im ashamed for him. A Celtic captain should not be acting like that. Paddy McCourt is exciting and should have scored. And Samaras??? He is terrible and that shot at goal should have hit the net, and him turning round and demanding a foul to deflect criticism just wont wash.. He is nowhere near good enough.. McGeady, in my opinion should be dropped as he is just not performing and defences in the SPL are wise to his tricks, which are in fact becoming dull. Compared to McCourt, he is nowhere..

Rangers and Celtic transfer to the Premiership

I heard Martin Bain say that Rangers cannot reach their potential in the SPL and that the riches of the Premiership is where our fortunes lie. I disagree with this notion and fear that if we take the £40 million TV money and spend it on over-priced foreigners and still not win anything or have any position in the Champions League. And to compound the problem, to have an hope of reaching the top 4, we may need to incur the debt at Manchester Utd of £667 and Liverpool with £86 million. No thanks. Rangers should prosper as being in the top 2 in Scotland, take the TV money and deal in the transfer market at an affordable level. We should concentrate on technique, training and fitness and use Murray Park for its intended purpose. We can only beat what is in front of us.

I was listening to the football phonein on Real Radio the other night and nearly fell off my chair when Roughie did his rap along to In da Club by 50 cent.. It was genius and he even did a wee beep at the swearing lol.. Fantastic. And what did it for me was when he rapped his own version of the lyrics.... "Take your doggy for a walkie and pick up the jobbie.... " ...! It was hilarious and where these lyrics came from I dont know... Hilarious... Nice one Roughie.. And listening tonight, I hear they are thinking about doing a video for it... Christ, Roughie with some gyrating babes will be something to see... Genius... I bet Ewan Cameron is jealous lol...

Celtic v Rapid Vienna

Not a bad game of football, and a poor result for Celtic as I feel we should be capable of beating Austrian teams... They were not that good and looked fragile at the back (though so do we !!) so we should have done better.

I was really pissed off listening to and reading the constant build up by the media about 1984.. Who cares, we didnt cover ourselves in glory that night either. Ok they were cheating but some of ours threw objects onto the pitch. It doesnt matter whether it was a bottle or not... Stuff was thrown.... And the banners at the game the other night were shocking.. We Hate Rapid etc was pathetic and threw a bad light on us... I was embarassed by the fools who thought this would be a good idea.  IM just glad the Austrians didnt react. I also thought they made the night. we have forgotten how to gee up the team and their constant topless bouncing and singing was fantastic.

Lets hope we can take maximum points in the next couple of games, but i have a bad feeleing that we are out.. Hail hail..
